Writer's block can be frustrating for music artists, authors, and poets. Here are some "do's and don'ts" to get yourself out of it faster, and get back to writing!
Do:
Take Breaks
You need to let your mind rest, even when the creativity is flowing. This will allow your brain to refresh and not get overworked. Take breaks every so 50 minutes. Go for a walk, get a coffee, or phone a friend.
Remove Distractions
Turn the phone and TV off. Be in a space that allows you to be focused. Atmosphere is everything.
Listen to Music
Now we aren’t saying copy everything you hear. Find inspiration from your favorite artists or give your brain a break. Listen to classical or mood inspiring music.
Go Out
Sometimes you need to get away completely and let life happen. Go out and enjoy yourself.
Don’t:
Avoid Writing
The more you force it, the more you push yourself. Don't put the pen down.
Pity Yourself
Focus on the positives. Don’t be hard on yourself.
Watch TV
Don’t add one more distraction to your plate. TV isn’t proactive or productive.
Wait for Inspiration
Engage yourself and think critically. Don’t expect it to just happen by waiting.
